Your Dream Offroad Adventure through Dinaric Alps
The Dinarides (Dinaric Alps)
The Dinarides are Europe’s largest karst mountain chain – limestone plateaus, high passes, clear river canyons, beech and fir forests, black pine above the tree line, and open pastures.
This raid is a detailed, high-quality ride through the best of Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro, focused on the most beautiful mountains and the most rewarding tracks in each region.
Multiple tracks, one concept
Multiple track options are available, making the raid suitable for small and large motorcycles, quads, SSVs, and 4×4 off-road vehicles.
All vehicle types are welcome. We split into pace groups and adapt the daily plan to vehicle type, rider or driver skill, weather, and conditions.
The aim is simple:
safe, rewarding days with variety – from fast gravel that feels like tarmac to narrow technical lines, from ridge roads with long views to tracks beside lakes and clear rivers.
You get a concentrated taste of the Dinarics – without race stress – at a tempo that fits you and your machine.

Terrain and scenery
Expect a lot of mountain time on the best ranges in both countries. We ride wide alpine plateaus, ridge roads with long views, along clear rivers and lakes, and across small mountain streams.
Surfaces change often:
- hard, well-graded gravel
- loose crushed stone and classic gravel
- narrow, rocky, overgrown, or muddy broken tracks after heavy rain
This is Dinaric nature at its best – limestone karst, beech and fir forests, black pine above the tree line, open pastures.
Wildlife is present and calm. You will often see rabbits, and sometimes foxes or roe deer.
Pace and daily hours
Distances are not huge, but riding is steady. Plan for up to around 10 hours on the move per day, plus photo, fuel, and food stops.
We split into pace groups to keep everyone comfortable and safe.
Weather and clothing
Bring proper rain gear for daytime use and a warm layer for evenings and altitude. Weather can turn quickly.
Pack:
- rain gear you trust
- a light windproof layer
- a compact mid-layer
Vehicles and rider gear
Motorcycles, quads, SSV and 4×4 are welcome.
Motorcyclists must wear:
- helmet
- goggles or visor
- off-road boots
- gloves
- body armour that fits well
SSV and 4×4 vehicles must have:
- working seat belts
- solid front and rear recovery points
Tyres: set up for rocky ground. For SSV and 4×4, use strong sidewalls.
Fuel range requirement: minimum 120 km.
Lodging and meals
Lodging
We sleep in towns, in the best hotels available there – with local character rather than chain style.
Meals
7 x breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
Food is generous and rooted in local tradition. In Bosnia & Herzegovina: uštipci with kajmak, sir iz mijeha, cicvara or pura, trout, veal or lamb under the sač, pies and zeljanica. In Montenegro: kačamak and cicvara, smoked meats and pršut, potatoes in many forms, mountain cheese and honey.
Laguage Transportation
Luggage transfer
Each participant can use one “rally box” (example), for luggage transfer between hotels. The organiser collects boxes from the hotel lobby each morning and delivers them to the next hotel lobby.
Important:
- A rally box is not included. Participants must provide their own and bring it to the first hotel.
- Boxes can be rented from the organiser for 50 EUR per box, with prior notice.
Tyre transport (motorcycles)
The organiser transfers 2 motorcycle tyres + 2 mousses per rider (if required).
Safety, tracking and Briefings
Safety and tracking devices
Safety and recovery teams are active on route. A tracker is mandatory for every vehicle. We also use an app so staff and participants can see each other in real time.
Briefings
Daily briefings take place in the evening. We cover:
- next day routing
- weather
- fuel windows
- water points
- any sensitive areas
A short morning update covers the same essentials before departure.
Good practice on the trail
- Stay on the track
- Respect livestock and shepherd dogs
- Slow down for flocks
- Close fences behind you
- Carry out all waste
- Be polite with locals – a simple greeting and thanks go a long way
If this matches your expectations, bring a prepared vehicle, the right clothing, and a good attitude. We handle routing, hotels, food, safety, and the tools that keep the group connected while you enjoy the Dinaric mountains.
Communication during the raid
- Sportity for regular daily updates
- WhatsApp for instant communication between organiser and participants
Photo and Video
Professional photo and video teams follow the group and deliver content daily.
Finisher’s medal
Every participant who completes the raid receives a finisher’s medal.
Mandatory Insurance
Minimum coverage required:
- 5.000 eur for death and repatriation
- 10.000 eur for permanent disability
Participants must arrange their own insurance that meets these minimums.
If this is your kind of week, lock it in.

FAQ
Is this a race?
No.
Dinaric Adventure Raid is non-competitive. There is no timing, no ranking, and no results list.
You ride at your own pace, following the provided route. The focus is on terrain, navigation, and multi-day riding – not racing.
Do I need rally or navigation experience?
You need basic off-road experience and to be comfortable riding or driving for long days.
Navigation is done using GPX files, which are provided before the event. A roadbook is available on request. You do not need prior rally racing experience, but you should be familiar with GPS navigation or willing to learn.
What navigation device do I need?
You can use:
- a dedicated GPS device, or
- a mobile phone or tablet with a suitable navigation app
GPX files are provided.
If you need to rent navigation equipment (GPS, tracker, roadbook holder, remote, tripmeter), this can be arranged in advance.
How difficult is the terrain?
Terrain varies daily and includes:
- fast and slow gravel
- rocky and technical sections
- broken tracks and occasional water crossings
There are multiple track options, and we split into pace groups. Difficulty depends on weather, vehicle type, and chosen line. The aim is challenging but manageable riding, not extreme enduro.
What if the weather is bad?
Weather in the Dinaric mountains can change quickly.
We prepare alternative routes in advance, and daily plans can be adapted based on conditions. Safety comes first. Expect rain, cold mornings at altitude, and changing terrain.
Proper rain gear and warm layers are mandatory.
Are motorcycles, quads, SSVs, and 4×4 vehicles riding together?
Yes, but not all on the same track at the same time.
We manage daily routing and timing so that different vehicle types can ride suitable sections. Groups are split by pace and vehicle type to keep the flow safe and enjoyable.
How long are the riding days?
Distances are moderate, but terrain is varied.
Plan for up to around 10 hours per day including stops, fuel, meals, and photo breaks. Some days are shorter, some longer.
Do I need my own insurance?
Yes.
Each participant must arrange personal insurance that covers:
- minimum 5,000 EUR for death and repatriation
- minimum 10,000 EUR for permanent disability
Medical assistance is present on route, but personal insurance is mandatory.
Is fuel included?
No.
Fuel is not included in the entry fee.
Fuel stops are planned into the route. In very remote areas, fuel logistics can be organised in advance as an optional service (fuel cost paid by the participant).
Can I ride or drive alone?
Yes.
You ride independently, but within the event structure.
Live tracking is used, support teams are active on route, and daily briefings keep everyone informed. If you stop or need assistance, the organisation can see your position.
Are border crossings handled by the organiser?
Yes.
The organiser assists with border procedures and required documentation. Exact instructions are shared with registered participants before the event.
Participants are responsible for having valid personal documents and vehicle papers.
What happens if I cannot finish a stage?
If you have a mechanical issue, injury, or decide to stop for the day:
- support and recovery teams will assist
- alternative transport or solutions will be arranged where possible
The goal is to keep everyone safe and moving, not to push at all costs.
Can I cancel my registration?
Cancellation terms are defined in the event regulations and depend on timing.
Details are provided during registration. Early notice helps with logistics and accommodation planning.
How many participants are there?
Entries are limited to keep the ride manageable, safe, and enjoyable.
Registration closes once capacity is reached.
Who organises the event?
The event is organised by UNTAMED, a team with years of experience in rally raids, adventure rides, and training programs in the Dinaric region.
